Trip Overview

The Gosaikunda trek is a movement to see the snow-capped freshwater icy mass lake called Gosaikunda dwelling at the elevation of 4,380 meters inside the Langtang National Park of Rasuwa district of Nepal.

The primary featured element of this trek is the colorful 108 icy mass lakes that are scattered around the Gosaikunda area alongside encompassing the lovely Himalayas, excellent scenes, rich wild nature with pleasant landscapes, delightful backwoods and so forth.

The Gosaikunda trek is a visitor goal in light of captivating characteristics excellence alongside untamed creature raising, yak fields, and cheddar business. Gosaikunda Lake has an incredible religious incentive to Hindu religion and is a place to journey for Hindus around the globe.

The Gosaikunda Lake is said to be started by burrowing of land by Lord Shiva by his heavenly Trident when he was searching for the wellspring of water and made 108 lakes in the area.

There are several trekking trails to Gosaikunda Lake from different places of Kathmandu Valley. We take the most brief of all trekking trail to Gosaikunda Lake which is Dhunche to Gosaikunda. The tourists arrive at Dhunche Bazar which is by and large 6-7 hours ride from Kathmandu city.

The trail starts gaining elevation as you make your way along the Langtang Khola. At first, you walk through the oak and rhododendron forests, and then bamboo forests on the higher reaches of the trail. As most of this region falls into Langtang National Park, it offers pine forest, swift mountain streams, rugged rock, and snow-capped peaks, grassy down and meadows are strewn with daisies and wild animals.

The travelers rest at Dhunche Bazaar for the primary day and the following day they take after the trekking trail to Chandan Bari going through Deurali. The travelers rest at Chandan Bari which likewise called Sing Gompa and following day they move towards Gosaikundagoing through Lauri Binayak.

After the intersection at Lauri Binayak, the explorers achieve Gosaikunda. The explorers do their touring and climbing in the Gosaikunda area and utilize a similar course while coming back to Dhunche. The explorers take arrive vehicle from Dhunche to Kathmandu.

Langtang Trek as a whole offers you a chance to experience the spiritual lifestyle of Langtang Valley and the friendly Sherpa village of Kyanjing. They are dedicated Buddhist monks who perform their rituals in a beautiful Monastery.

We will climb through the farmland; the tree line up an alpine ridge that offers a huge Himalayan panorama, to reach a rocky bowl studded with scared high altitudes lakes. You will create a bundle of joyful memories as you get on this journey with our team.

1. Starting Point: The trek usually begins in Syabrubesi, and the trail initially follows the Langtang Valley route. Syabrubesi is accessible by a scenic drive from Kathmandu.

2. Langtang Valley Exploration: The initial days of the trek take you through the Langtang Valley, passing charming villages like Lama Hotel and Mundu. Enjoy the cultural richness of the Tamang communities and the serenity of the Langtang River.

3. Kyangjin Gompa: Reach Kyangjin Gompa, a Buddhist monastery with breathtaking views of Langtang Lirung. Kyangjin Gompa serves as a base for acclimatization and exploration, including a possible day hike to Tserko Ri.

4. Gosainkunda Lakes: Depart from Kyangjin Gompa to reach the sacred alpine lakes of Gosainkunda. The trail ascends through rhododendron forests and yak pastures, revealing stunning mountain vistas. The Gosainkunda region is known for its spiritual significance and the presence of several lakes, the main one being Gosainkunda.

5. Laurebina Pass (Gosaikunda Pass): Ascend to the Laurebina Pass (Gosaikunda Pass) at an altitude of approximately 4,600 meters (15,091 feet). The pass offers panoramic views of the Langtang Range, Ganesh Himal, and the surrounding peaks.

6. Tharepati and Downhill Descent: Descend from the pass to the village of Tharepati, passing through picturesque landscapes and rhododendron forests. The trail gradually descends, offering views of terraced fields and traditional villages.

7. Melamchi Gaon and Tarke Gyang: Continue the trek through the villages of Melamchi Gaon and Tarke Gyang. Experience the unique culture of the Helambu region, inhabited by Sherpas. The trail meanders through terraced fields and dense forests.

8. Sermathang to Melamchi Bazaar: The trek concludes with a descent to Melamchi Bazaar. From here, you can drive back to Kathmandu, completing the Langtang Gosainkunda Trek.

9. Best Time to Trek: The ideal seasons for the Langtang Gosainkunda Trek are spring (March to May) and autumn (September to November), offering stable weather conditions and clear mountain views.

10. Accommodations: Teahouses and lodges along the route provide basic accommodations and meals, allowing trekkers to experience the warmth of local hospitality

Itinerary

Day 01 Kathmandu to Syabrubesi (1,550m / 5,085ft)

  • Drive from Kathmandu to Syabrubesi, the starting point of the trek.
  • Enjoy the scenic drive through picturesque landscapes.

Day 02 Syabrubesi to Lama Hotel (2,380m / 7,808ft)

  • Trek through lush forests of rhododendron and bamboo.
  • Cross the Langtang River and reach Lama Hotel for an overnight stay.

Day 03 Lama Hotel to Mundu (3,430m / 11,253ft)

  • Continue the ascent through the Langtang Valley.
  • Pass through the villages of Ghoda Tabela and Thangsyap before reaching Mundu.

Day 04 Mundu to Kyangjin Gompa (3,870m / 12,697ft)

  • Trek to Kyangjin Gompa, a Buddhist monastery.
  • Enjoy breathtaking views of Langtang Lirung and surrounding peaks.

Day 05 Acclimatization Day in Kyangjin Gompa

  • Explore Kyangjin Gompa and surroundings.
  • Optionally, take a day hike to Tserko Ri for panoramic mountain views.

Day 06 Kyangjin Gompa to Lama Hotel

  • Descend back through the Langtang Valley.
  • Reach Lama Hotel for an overnight stay.

Day 07 Lama Hotel to Thulo Syabru (2,230m / 7,316ft)

  • Trek to Thulo Syabru, a Tamang village with cultural significance.
  • Pass through forests and terraced fields.

Day 08 Thulo Syabru to Sing Gompa (Chandan Bari)

  • Trek from Thulo Syabru to Sing Gompa (Chandan Bari).
  • Pass through rhododendron forests and encounter wildlife.
  • Visit the cheese factory at Sing Gompa.
  • Overnight stay at Sing Gompa.

Day 09 Sing Gompa to Gosainkunda

  • Trek from Sing Gompa to Gosainkunda.
  • Ascend to the holy lakes of Gosainkunda.
  • Explore the lakes and the surrounding area.
  • Overnight stay near Gosainkunda.

Day 10 Gosainkunda to Ghopte

  • Trek from Gosainkunda to Ghopte via Lauribina Pass.
  • Enjoy the scenic views of the Himalayas and alpine landscapes.
  • Descend to Ghopte for overnight stay.

Day 11 Ghopte to Mangengoth

  • Trek from Ghopte to Mangengoth.
  • Pass through dense forests and cross several streams.
  • Enjoy the serene environment and the views.
  • Overnight stay at Mangengoth.

Day 12 Mangengoth to Kathmandu via Sundarijal

  • Trek from Mangengoth to Sundarijal.
  • Drive back to Kathmandu from Sundarijal.
  • Conclude the trek with memories of the Langtang region.
